The "2006 International Symposium on 3D Imaging
& Display Technology" was organized by the
3D Display Research Center (3DRC) at Kwangwoon University,
Seoul, Korea.
This series of symposiums started in 2004, and this
was its the third in the series. From Japan, three individuals
representing the 3D Consortium gave lectures.
These lectures included "Introduction of the 3D
Consortium," by Mr. Yasushi Yamamoto of Sharp Corporation,
"Trends of 3D contents and digital cinemas in Japan,"
by Associate Professor Masayuki Nakajima of the Tokyo
Institute of Technology, and "3D projects in Akihabara
Crossfield," by Professor Takashi Kawai of Waseda
University.
Reports from China and Europe were also presented during
the symposium which gave us the impression that 3D technologies
have rapidly evolved all over the world.
Various types of 3D display systems were exhibited at
the 3D Display Research Center (3DRC) with assistance
from the national government which seemed to demonstrate
the enthusiasm of Korea on the development of 3D technologies.
