Organization of a joint symposium for the general public with the Technical Group on Three-Dimensional Image Technology (Chairman: Mr. Yasuhiro Takaki/Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology) of the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers continued this year at Lecture Room L0111 of New Building 1 in the Koganei Campus of the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology.
The theme of the symposium was the "Current and future of 3D image technologies". The opportunities where we experience 3D images have been increasing including 3DTV and portable game devices. In such a situation, what direction should 3D image technologies be aimed at? We invited people who are at the forefront of the 3D industry as lecturers. They gave lectures about the market for 3D movies, 3DTV programs, 3D games and 3D display technologies. In addition, a tour to university laboratories by those who were interested was held to introduce the latest research about 3D at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. At the lobby of the venue, member companies, Newsight Japan and VMJ, organized an exhibition with demonstrations of their naked-eye 3D displays.
There were 62 members at the symposium for a total of 89 people attending.
