"Mr. Tadashi Ishikawa delivering an opening address (Leader of the Technical Sub-committee /Toshiba Corporation)"
|
On June 14, 2012, a study session organized by the Technical Sub-committee was held at the Japan Education Center.
The theme of the study session was "Introduction of new expression methods and the latest situation related to 3D".
Now 3D is in the period of diffusion and many countries are operating 3D broadcasting. In such a situation, expectations for its appeals are expanding including the diffusion of 3D games and planned live 3D recording of the Olympic Games in London in this summer. Most noteworthy is that one of the huge markets, China started national 3D broadcasting and its situation is very interesting. Therefore, a lecturer was invited for this study session to deliver a lecture about the latest situation of 3D TVs, 3D broadcasting, 3D products and 3D technologies in China. In addition, considering the fact that various emerging expression methods which apply 3D have appeared, introductory demonstrations from recording to editing 3D contents were organized by experts in these fields.
There were 25 members at the study session for a total of 61 people attending.

"Multiplexing and hiding of images which are compatible to 3D"
Associate Professor, Department of Information Media Faculty of Information Technology, Kanagawa Institute of Technology
Dr. Akihiko Shirai
Recently, evolution and diffusion of 3D imaging technologies have been remarkable. However, if 3D images can only have value added such as "depth/protruding", it may not exist very long as we have seen in the cases of various novel technologies we had in the past. This research used the basis of existing 3D display technologies, and realized "multiplexing/hiding images" which may lead to new value added and development of its applications. The lecture introduced its basic theory, the current situation such as patents and examples of contents with high value added.
* Demonstrations were simultaneously held.

"Future of 3D imaging technologies through gamification"
Associate Professor, Department of Game, Department or Art, Tokyo Polytechnic University
Dr. Atsushi Miyazawa
"Gamification" which means to analyze the factors and know-how which make people attracted to games and apply the results to promotions and Internet services has attracted attention. This lecture introduced production of computer graphics with multi-parallax and examples for utilizing multi-parallax displays. It reported about the development and evaluation of a solution method for a mathematical problem of a university entrance exam and photographing techniques with a new game device.
* Demonstrations were simultaneously held.
