"New possibilities of 4K and 3D"

Executive Director, Fujiwara-Rothchild, Ltd.
Mr. Ikuo Matsumoto
> Outline of lecture
We conducted a questionnaire for 3D operators in 2012. The result marked a contrast between Japanese operators who showed the sense of stagnation and foreign operators who kept their spirits high. The lecture will provide the analysis of the root cause of this contrast and of favorable directions for 3D in the future. Since the advancement of 4K and combination with 3D will be an important factor in the future, trend analysis related to 4K is included. * Exhibition with demonstrations
"New 3D broadcast system which is compatible with traditional 2D receivers 'Advanced Stereo 3D'"

Executive Engineer, 3D & High Definition Division, Broadcast Engineering Department NHK Media Technology, Inc.
Mr. Yasuaki Nishida
> Outline of lecture
Currently, 2D receivers can only present 3D broadcasts in half resolution with a layout where two screens are horizontally laid out. This system allows traditional TVs to present full high definition broadcasts and 3D TVs to present full high definition 3D. In addition, the proposed new 3D broadcast system enables broadcasts by using a traditional broadcast band. By using this system, resolution as well as image quality will be improved compared to the current side-by-side 3D broadcasts.
